Shenanigans of February.

Yes, February. Don't judge me. I got distracted.

Crazy moments in the life of Logan

Logan: Dad, why did George Cherry cut down the Washington Tree? wait, that was backwards.
Dad: Because he was drunk?
Logan: Well you have to be honest to be president, right?
Dad: *laughing*
Logan: I bet Nick H would make a good president. He's always honest!

"Mom, pretend I am wearing a pink tutu with butterflies all around me. Lalalala"

Logan just told me he named one of his pimples "Zitty"
Dude, gross.

Super proud of Logan. I went to his teacher conference and he is WAAAAY above his grade level for reading and math and is doing great pretty much across the board. Ms. P also said he is the best creative writer in the class.. he can tell a story but Hates Hates Hates to physically write. I guess when he does, it is worth the screaming. Watching his teacher read his "love letter" was hilarious. I have to do some uh.. editing before I post it here or on the blog. He was also tested for gifted the same week.

Can't figure out why I'm so tired today.. then i remembered that Logan woke me up at 3:34am and was dressed and ready for school. When I told him what time it was he insisted our clocks are ALL wrong. Then he came back at 3:45 and was excited to be in the Guinness book for kid who was ready for school first. I told him to go back to bed. He kept telling me he can't sleep until around 4:30. "Well I can, go away" was not acceptable to him. When Kendal got up at 7:30 he was sleeping on the couch. Fingers crossed for early bedtime tonight.

Logan made his own sausage and eggs. Nom nom

This couch at IKEA "feels like old man pants"

Logan was home sick today (woke up with a sore throat and barking cough, he's better now) I grabbed the wrong lunch box to send with Kendal this morning. My apologies to her teachers for the subsequent meltdown. But Logan's realization that Kendal got his favorite lunch items and didn't appreciate them (except the chocolate) was hilarious. "Thanks for packing combos and ham n cheese rolls in my lunch mom, I really WOULD have loved that..." Their conversations always crack me up.

Walking though the living room and this is happening. Meditation with fruit.

"It's the great wall of Lego. Which is sorta like the great wall of China... which separates China from Mongolia."

Logan: mom, I'm going to do an experiment with my race cars.
Me half paying attention: ok, cool.
Logan: I'm going to see if they can survive whole minute in the microwave!
Me: wait, what? NO!
Logan: but I'm going put it in water...
Me: uh... nope. Bad idea.
Logan: dang it!

Logan with 7th degree black belt coung nhu master

You know your 7yr old is hanging out with the cool/geeky kids when one of his first birthday invites of the year is for a Big Bang Theory themed party... BAZINGA!!

2 Purple stripe belt test!
Super excited!

Kendal Shenanigans

Kendal calls this Advanced Matching Game. Just take 4 boxes of memory games and mix them all up. Now match them. Yay

  Ms. Cool watching Super Why

Moments before happy red foam block's execution...

 Bath time with the dinosaurs

The elusive Kendal nap.

Just lookin' for a toy...

Diggin' deep.... "Mom, a little help here!?"

Climbs into my bed and snuggles me every morning.

Just polished off two waffles. This may not be impressive to anyone else but that's more than she eats EVER!

She did dump 1/2 a plate of syrup on the floor when she showed me her waffles were gone, but I'm happy she's eating.

K cleaned her plate AND took care of her dishes without being asked and earned the last shmuzzie!

I guess now she can hatch that evil plan she's thinking about...

It's a Kendal costume original.

I thikn she said she's a pikatchu.. or something

Kendal let me straighten her hair. It. Is. Gorgeous.

I stared at it for a whole day.

Just the usual trip to the bus stop... the type where we never actually MAKE it to the bus and Logan walks right past us...

Yeah, Sure. Have some crackers. Go ahead and dump em right there. Then step on them. PERFECT

I think it was just a ploy to earn a 'clean up' shmuzzie.

Wro family happenings...

This was the surreal day that my kids met my friend Phil's kids. WE went to high school together. Logan was wired, Kendal was sleepy, and the girls were overwhelmed by my kids. Tara is officially cancer free after an incredibly strong fight with brain tumors this last year. This was their Make a Wish trip to Disney World!

I love the kids' annual red crayon in the laundry basket gag. Guess I'll be buying that new $60 gi for karate...

Ya know what hurts worse than stepping on legos in the middle of the night? Stepping on a handful of gaming dice. OMG!!

The kids got haircuts at Disney for a shockingly reasonable price.

Kendal got the whole "First Haircut" Package. I don't count the time I had to cut a motorized truck out of her hair.. or the two zhu zhu pets that ate her pig tails.

Bubbles to pass the time...

Tada!!

Cute picture...
mandatory.

Then they yank that hair into the tightest ponytail ever, and sprinkle glitter on top.

And now you can't tell how that new haircut looks! The good news is that she LOVED the experience. The bad news is that she expects every hair place to have bubbles and glitter.

Then we spent the rest of the day doing normal Disney stuff.

Like driving race cars.

And spinning the giant germ ball in Tomorrow Land.

And dressing up like Beast and dancing with Belle.

Ok, So lots more happened that month...

and I am posting this unedited because well, I don't care, it's been months. This is September 1st and I am blogging about February. That's messed up. We are just gonna go ahead and fast forward 6 months.

January seems like so longs ago!

Here's the stuff that was good enough to remember

... or more accurately, the stuff I was able to write down before I forgot.

Best kid-isms of Januray

Has anyone else's Furby personality turned into a rude British man? It is strange coming from a pink polka dot fuzzball. It started at a squeaky little girly thing that called itself Coco. Today it woke up hungry and then started shaking and yelling "CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE" Then there was strobe action in the eyes and it Belched LOUDLY! Bam, we now have a hot pink Monty Python Furby.

Logan just handed me this from his new LEGO set. Walter White Lego with dynamite

Kendal-ism with a cold:
Fucked me up=woked me up

I may have accidentally given Kendal chewable Benedryl instead of chewable Tylenol. DOH! They are both pink and in the bubble packets.. She's pretty stoned right now.

Logan just told me that whispering doesn't have any color. He may also be under the influence.

We are doing shots over here! Of Tamaflu, Theraflu, and Prescription cough meds. Party time up in here. *hic*

Logan freaks out like when forced to take medicine. Spitting, hitting psycho child. He's had a cough for 3 weeks that keeps everyone up at night. Finally got stuff from the Dr to help and NOPE, won't touch the stuff. GAAAAH

Today in the fight to get Kendal eating fruit: she is enjoying some gummies.. which are really dried pineapple. (this breakthrough was very short lived)

Logan read a sentence that involved the phrase "Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era' and mispronounced the word "Era". He also can't wait to get back to school so he can learn more math tomorrow. So. Weird.

Kids were missing Michigan so we are using our Snow in a Can from grandma and grandpa

Kendal: I want you to take me a bath.
Me: You mean you want me to give you a bath?
Kendal: Yeah, like yesterday.
Guess I should get on that then...

Waffle safety.
It's important.

Logan: Mom, if me and you were married and we were watching a sunset, about to make out...
Me: Wait, WHAT!?
Logan: Mom, I said IF WE WERE MARRIED!! So its ok.
Me: Um.. right, that would make this story ok. Go on.
Logan: Anyway, we'd be about to kiss on a cliff or something by the ocean and a dolphin would probably jump up and splash us and Ruin EVERYTHING. Just like in the cartoons. Pretty funny, huh?
Me: *speechless with the giggles*
Logan: I KNEW it wasn't just funny in my head!

I LOVE when Kendal comes out of her room to tell me she dropped her sippy cup on the floor. She has to get off her bunk, step OVER said cup to come out and tell me. in her mind its easier for us to stop what we are doing to walk up stairs, past her, pick it up, and hand it to her, then put her back in back in bed. Go the F#@$ to sleep.

The start of project Lego organization

Overheard in line at Jo-Ann Fabric:
Little girl: mommy, I'm going to use the paper you are buying to make a beautiful story about JESUS for you.
Mommy: that would be great, thank you! (Grandma's swooning)
Little girl: and when you read it, maybe you'll remember not to yell so much.
Everyone around started cracking up, mom turned bright red, little girl was oblivious, reached out to grab a piece of chocolate, and bit through the wrapper. Mom now CAN'T yell at her. I thanked her on the way out for the entertainment and her awesome kids.

Hero Academy Picnic

Logan: I'm the most creative kid in history
Except for Albert Einstien, Ben Franklin.. and those other guys.
I am the most creative 7yr old in recent history.
(He taped a spoon to his punching bag and is using it as a catapult)

Kendal: I farted.
Loopy: stop that
Kendal: but I have to. I'm a laaady. Ladies fart.

Logan: LETS DO FRACTIONS!!
Me: Um...
Logan: Ok, I know you suck at math but this will help you. I'm going to teach you!
Me: I think dad loves fractions...
Monday math pop quiz averted.

Logan: What are you typing
Me: A message to Grandpa
Kendal: MY grandpa?
Me: Yes.
Kendal: Heh Heh Heh. He has white hairs

Logan pealed an orange and thought it looked like a tree. Sometimes he's artsy

Watching back to the future.
Doc Brown: We are headed to Oct 21, 2015
Logan: Wait, That is NEXT YEAR!! Flying cars are next year!? HIGH FIVE!!!
Me: Cool, huh?
Logan: And I finally get to wear TWO TIES!
Me: Two ties?

Logan: Yeah, there was one guy in there that did it. And Doc has a CLEAR tie. And we have to walk around with our pants and pockets inside out to prove that you have no money if you go to the store. I wonder where they are starting to build the future stuff. Probably California.

Told Logan to wear layers because it is chilly out... I should have been more specific. Those are work out pants, dress pants, tank top, hawaiian shirt and flannel. Sigh

The lack of humidity and excessive static are taking their toll on Kendal's hair. She's electric!

Logan said he learned how to edit sentences and stories last week at school and he LOVES this new skill. Who here is surprised his new favorite thing is being TOLD to correct people.

Kids earned a day at the park. A whole week of no meltdowns, complaints at dinner, good school days, chores all done and speaking nicely to others. Woo Hoo!!

Good news: I remembered to bring Logan to Karate today
Bad news: Karate was at 4:45, not 6:00. Because today is Thursday, not Wednesday.

Loopy's watch band broke so Kendal made matching watch bracelets for stitch, herself, and dad. My crafty girl!

My kids invented a game called "car crash" where they stand at opposite ends of the house and run at each other at full speed. No good can come of this.

How we do January in Florida

Kendal with straight hair... probably time for a haircut.

Logan got his first love note today. The content was questionable, but he's excited that he has an official girlfriend. He also told me he is growing a beard and one step closer to being a man... while wearing a hooded dino towel.

Baby D's big arrival

You know you've spent a week at my parents house if you do laundry and then want to take a bath but you have to stop and think if you'd have to "push the button" so the hot water doesn't run out.

My friend Karry's daughter Melanie went into pre-term labor at 32 weeks. After a few days of trying to stop the inevitable she texted me at 3am to come RIGHT now cause baby wasn't waiting anymore. Karry lives an hour away and had just gone home for some much needed rest.

So like the good Hospital Buddy that I am I jumped in the car and went to play birth coach for a while. We had a great time.. once the meds kicked in!

I went home around 8am after Karry and Rob showed up. Less than an hour later Baby David made his grand entrance. I wasn't aloud to be in the room for the birth anyway. Because of the high risks involved he was delivered in the OR.

Born at barely 33 weeks
5lbs 3oz!! Healthy little man

Gettin' my baby snuggle!

I spent the next few weeks stopping in at the hospital and Ronald McDonald House as much as possible to keep Mel company and get my baby snuggles. He's so soft and sweet and perfect. I miss him!

Little dude...

Help a brotha out

Loopy got a random wrong number text about a person who "hopefully won't be drug tested before they get ont he boat". We let them know it was the wrong number but suggested lots and lots of water then pop a B12 two hours before the test so the pee isn't too clear and wished them good luck.  Hope it works out for them

Wendy!

About once a year my friend high school friend, Wendy, comes to own. Last year we went flying with her boyfriend and buddy Scott the Pilot. You can read about that fiasco in THIS BLOG Post.

This time we just met up for Sushi and then hung out with Arthur for the night. Good times. I love when people come visit!

Shenanigan Night

From time to time I get a chance to hang out with THIS chick. We usually end up in strange places doing things that 2 moms with 5 kids between us don't normally do. We don't discuss details. I think its all legal though...

She suggested the dog track to start out our evening. This turned out to pretty lame, but we made the best of it.

This is the part where the dogs run for about 30 seconds.

This is the way more interesting part where the handlers chase the dogs to the finish line.

We left there and ended up down on Seabreeze if that give you any idea what kinds of shenanigans were had this evening.

Throw Back Thursday

My friend Jason (his nickname was Stumpy if you are following along) and he posted them on a Throwback day. This must have been around 2001 or so.
Me, April, and Melissa (We call her Ozzy)

Moving right along....
